We are thrilled to announce the launch of Q-Tech Academy, a groundbreaking initiative by The Equality Pathway (TEP), in partnership with One Million Visuals, designed to equip young queer Nigerians with cutting-edge tech and design skills!

At Q-Tech Academy, our mission is to empower the LGBTQI+ community by providing them with digital tools and knowledge to thrive in today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world. This innovative program will cover a range of courses, including tech design, visual creativity, and essential digital skills, ensuring that participants are not only job-ready but equipped to excel in their careers and make their mark globally.

In a world where technology and creativity are the driving forces of change, queer Nigerians deserve a platform that offers equal opportunities. Q-Tech Academy is here to bridge that gap—fostering talent, building resilience, and unlocking potential through world-class training from industry leaders like One Million Visuals. Our goal is to create a space where diversity in tech and design is celebrated and where LGBTQI+ individuals can pursue their passions confidently.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Applicants must be at least between 18-28 years old at the time of applying.
2. The program is open to individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community, ensuring a safe and inclusive space for learning and growth.
3. Applicants must reside in Nigeria or be able to participate virtually if living abroad.
4. Applicants must be able to commit to the full 10-week program, including attending all sessions and completing assigned tasks and projects.
5. Applicants should have access to a laptop/computer and internet to participate in the virtual training sessions.
6. While prior experience in tech or design is beneficial, it is not a requirement. Q-Tech Academy is designed to welcome both beginners and those looking to enhance their existing skills.
7. Applicants should demonstrate a genuine interest in technology, digital design, or creative industries, with a willingness to learn and grow in these areas.
8. Preference may be given to individuals who identify as transgender, lesbian, or nonbinary women, and individual who have shown engagement in LGBTQI+ community support or advocacy

  • Program Timeline:

    •  Application Period: Applications open on September 13, 2024, and close on September 20, 2024.
    •  Selection Process: Long-listed applicants will be notified by September 23, 2024, and invited to submit a 1-minute video explaining why Q-Tech Academy is the right program for their career growth at this stage.Our Independent Panel of Experts will review the entry videos, which will also be voted on by our social media followers, with final reviews completed by September 27, 2024.Short-listed applicants will receive their final selection notification and a program briefing by September 28, 2024.
  •  Program Start Date:
    The Q-Tech Academy training begins on  September 30, 2024.
  • Program Duration:
    The program runs for 10 weeks, concluding on December 13, 2024.
  • Project Showcase:
    Participants will present their final projects during the Virtual Demo Day on December 13, 2024.
